Leadership Essentials

Who needs to listen to the CA Leadership Essentials?

Are you?
  • Leading in the life of Christian Assembly (CA)?
  • Wanting to grow in your leadership?
  • Wondering how you can begin to give your life away for God’s kingdom?
  • Not sure you’re really a leader but interested to learn more?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then the CA Leadership Essentials is for you!

We’ve identified the 10 most important things every leader needs to know – and we’ve created 10 CD recordings that will help you dig deeper into these essential leadership topics.  You’ll hear from CA staff members, including Mark Pickerill, Tom Hughes and others, as we grow together in our understanding of leadership and what it means to be disciple makers.  We believe these essential topics will help us become more effective in our mission of leading spiritually convinced and unconvinced people to complete commitment to Jesus Christ.

CA Leadership Essentials includes: 10 audio recordings and corresponding worksheets. You can read a brief description of each session, as well as download the recordings and worksheets below.

Note: Audio files are high quality, so downloads may take up to 2-4 minutes

1. What Is A Leader?
It’s not a position, title or a personality profile. It’s a person. But a certain kind of person committed to living a certain kind of life.  [Tom Hughes & Mark Pickerill, 30:53]

2. Becoming A People Of The Book
The question is not how much of the Bible you have “gotten through”; the question is how much of the Bible has gotten through to you. This session will help us learn how to increasingly become people of the Book in normal, simple, everyday ways.  [Cheryl Fletcher, 21:57]

3. So...Um...What Exactly Is “The Gospel”?

Sometimes phrases can become buzzwords that people say without anyone really knowing exactly what they mean. For us, “the gospel” is not a buzzword; it’s a message that literally changed the world. And leaders who will be world- changers must know the world-changing message in order to live it out.  [Cheryl Fletcher, 29:21]

4. Oldies But Goodies

Contrary to what we might be told by advertisers, newer is not always better. This is especially true when it comes to theology. This session will review reliable beliefs of Christianity that have withstood the test of time and will continue to shape our future.  [Matt Price, 36:42]

5. Leading Messy Groups (A.K.A. Groups That Have People In Them)

Jesus said where 2 or 3 gather in His name that He is there also. But He never said that meant leading groups of 2, 3, or more would be easy! This session will give us some simple “nuts-n-bolts” of leading groups effectively, including troubleshooting the most common group leadership challenges.  [Matt Price, 42:30]

6. DR GLOO

Six basic expectations that will help leaders lead well, people stay stuck together, and groups living for something more than themselves.  [Aron Gibson & Matt Price, 29:21]

7. Thinking Inside The Box

Culture tells us to think outside the box. But when it comes to leadership, there is one box that’s proven extremely helpful. It’s called the Leadership Square.  [Aron Gibson, 36:36]

8. The Only Necessary Thing

Jesus prayed. He taught His friends to do it. He even did it for us. We should probably learn to do it as well.  [Judy Villanueva, 30:25]

9. The Church: A Community In 3D

It’s not just a building, a worship service or some leisure activity for the weekend. So what exactly is the church? And what does it have to do with the hope of the world? This session will help us better understand the church, including three directions in which we can respond to God’s Grace: Worship. Family. Kingdom.  [Tom Hughes & Mark Pickerill, 38:29]

10. Becoming A Disciple Who Makes Disciples

Is there a difference between a “believer” and a “disciple”? Is it possible to be a disciple who never makes a disciple? What if you want to help others learn about Jesus but are afraid or don’t know how? [Tom Hughes, 27:18]
